It’s OK to Look Back. Just Don’t Stare!

I wasn’t going to write a year in review type post this year. To be quite honest, I’m ready to move on. I’m ready for new beginnings and fresh starts!

This past year has been a rough one for me in many areas of life and I guess I’m just ready to go forward.

Many of the things I struggled with weren’t topics I felt like I was able to share here, and that lead to some crippling writer’s block at times. It’s physically painful to feel like you can’t write, but I know that some things are better left behind the screen.

Even though the year felt trying at times, there were so many blessings! Especially, the blessing that this space and all of you bring me!

When I did finally go back and revisit my posts from the year, I was quickly reminded of how wonderful the year really was. There’s something to be said for making it through another year on this blogging journey, no?

Am I ready for new beginnings? You bet!

But, a little reflection is good for the soul.

I decided to take a look back and I’m glad I did.

It’s OK to look back. Just don’t stare!

These aren’t the most popular posts of the year, but they’re the posts that meant the most to me.

It looks like I missed out on some pretty amazing blog posts throughout 2013. I hope that 2014 is a better year for you. I understand about keeping somethings private. Thank you for the reminder that it’s okay to look back, ..but not stare at it.

So beautifully said, my friend. I don’t know all that you have been through, but I DO know that God has a way of redeeming and refining our hearts in ways only He can. I pray that you enter this New Year with His Presence wrapped around you and His Precious Love and Mercy pouring from within you…

Thank you SO much, Chris! I feel bad saying it was a hard year, because I know others who have been through much harder times! But, it was hard nonetheless. I’m excited for new beginnings! XO

I’m right there with you about wanting to move on from 2013. There was nothing wrong with 2013, per say. I just didn’t feel the need to “recap” it all either. I’m glad that in your looking back you did see how good the year was, though.

You also said what I have been trying to say for so long about having writer’s block. I had some things going on this year that I was not going to blog about and it made it so hard to keep blogging. I felt like I didn’t want to say anything at all since I couldn’t talk about XYZ, but I knew leaving that piece of my life out was for the better. It’s so hard sometimes!

So glad you can relate to that, Melissa. It wasn’t a horrible year, and I’m not complaining. Others have trials much greater, but it was a hard year nonetheless. Moving on feels good! Wishing you peace and happiness in 2014!
