There’s always the gifts that go without question, like a gift certificate for a little pampering. Who doesn’t want a pedicure or a massage? I can assure you, the homeschooling mom in your life wants both!
But what about the practical stuff?
Some of what’s on my list won’t really seem all that worthy of giving as a gift. I mean, who wants a globe, right?
Me. I do!
Mine broke a long time ago and I want a new one. Glamourous? No. An actual item on my wish list? Yes.
The kids always enjoy getting my husband and I something random that’s just from them. Some of the items on the list are perfect for that. Other items are the things I couldn’t live without that I think every homeschooling mom should have.
So, without further ado, here’s a practical list of gift ideas for the homeschooling mom!
I’m a nerd. I can’t help it. I want a new globe. My boys certainly aren’t going to put this beauty on their wish list and we could really use a new one. I never think to get one when we’re out and about. It’s sort of a seasonal “in store” item, and they’re just not on the shelves. I guess, it’s one of those things that’s out of sight out of mind, but I want one.
Every homeschooling mama needs a good kitchen timer. I used to have a cupcake timer, but it broke. I’ve been using the timer on the stove or my phone when I need one, and that’s just boring. This owl is too cute! This would make a great stocking stuffer or inexpensive gift.
I love using the Kindle for school! All those classics for free? You just can’t argue with that!
During the year we take several field trips. Having a good thermal tote for lunches would be great. I don’t like bulky coolers. Even the smaller personal sized coolers are awkward to deal with. I’d love to have something like this tote to throw everything in for our co-op class and other on-the-go activities!
You would feel so sorry for me if you saw my staplers. I have two plastic mini staplers. They’re always either missing or out of staples. I’m in love with this red stapler. How cute!?
Every homeschooling mom needs a good color printer! I have the older version of this printer without fax. I’m ready for an upgrade and really want to combine our printer and fax to save some space. I love my current printer and have never had an issue with it. It prints images perfectly!
I could not live without my electric pencil sharpener. This is the exact sharpener I have and I LOVE it. It’s super quiet and quick!
I like to laminate stuff. So does the homeschooling mom in your life. If she doesn’t it’s probably because she doesn’t have a laminator. They’re actually pretty inexpensive ($19.99) and can be used for a million different things. I’ve laminated flashcards, bookmarks, maps, and all sorts of visual aids for my lessons. It’s just handy to have! (don’t forget the Scotch Thermal Laminating Pouches!)
You can just never have enough dry erase markers! Period.
It’s hard to homeschool and do all the other things we’re called to do as mothers and wives too. There is nothing better than having dinner already in the Crock Pot when the school day is over. It gives me a chance to catch my breathe without having to worry about the next thing. A good slow cooker is a homeschooling mom’s best friend!
