My youngest son is 8 years old.
He spends most of his time smiling. I think he might be the happiest kid in the world. I’m still counting on him to be my Valentine, but I don’t know. He’s getting too cool for mom.
I still try to steal my snippets of snuggle time with him whenever I can, and reading together is something that still equals snuggle time!
He’s at that age where he’s fully capable of reading a book on his own, and dishes out the story time love less and less. But, I try really hard to find fun books to read aloud with him. I’m not sure how much longer I have in the story time category, but I plan on milking it for as long as possible. I still get bedtime stories every night and it’s probably my favorite time of the day. Well, except those times when mama’s really tired and can’t keep her eyes open.
I can usually swing a mid day story during school, too. A story after lunch is the best kind of story!
Do you read aloud to your kids?

Ooo, love Splat the Cat, the Biggest books, and Froggy’s First Kiss! I also like Valentine Mice, although it’s better for my kindergartner than my 4th grader.

My son is 7 and he will only snuggle with me when there is no one around – LOL! Thank you for your book suggestions. What a great idea – to buy them books for Valentine’s day!

Great book ideas Adrienne!! I love me some boy snuggles and my 6-year old still adores the cuddling and smooching… milking it til he’s at least 20.

This is fantastic. I am still a little stumped about what to do about my boy and holidays. And Valentine’s…my 8 is still so small, but the gifts I would get for the girls would still be so inappropriate for him.
