Blogging shouldn’t make you feel bad!

If I can’t get to email replies, regular scheduled posts, visiting others, and so forth I tend to let that make me feel guilty. Silly, huh?

I know you all have felt this way at some point in your blogging journey. You see those other famous bloggers “doing it all”, right? Well, the truth is we have no idea what really goes on behind our computer screens.
Blogging is something I love to do when I have time to do it. I enjoy every aspect of it, and I’m just not going to let it make me feel bad. It’s something that is supposed to make me feel good!
Meeting all of you has been a fabulous journey, and I know we all make time for each other as much as we can. I’ve truly enjoyed meeting all of you! However, there are times, just like IRL, when we just don’t get to it. Why?
Because we have to live life in order to write about it! We have families, husbands, children, jobs, responsibilities…Don’t let the pressures of the blogosphere get to you. Stay true to yourself, your writing, your voice, and share what you can when it’s the right time.
Don’t worry about the numbers! Which BTW word on the street says GFC is going away for many non-blogger blogs, and I kinda like that idea. I’m tired of looking at numbers. Aren’t you?
So just a word of encouragement. Blogging is an outlet and an expression of our lives. It’s doesn’t lead us, we lead it! Enjoy it for what it is. Not for what you wish it was or what you hope it’s going to grow into. Love yourself for your writing and don’t constantly compare every post to those “bigger” blogs.
Sure, learn from those successful bloggers, they are awesome, and can teach us plenty! BUT be sure to keep your voice!
I truly believe that when we write from the heart people will read it, relate to it, and come back!

So feel good! Be encouraged! <3

Somewhere along the way I picked up homeschooling two boys and blogging. When I'm not scrubbing toilets or answering endless questions, I'm usually here, over sharing it all! My writing is always honest, sometimes sarcastic, and never perfect. I hope to keep my kids from seeking adult therapy. I know. Pipe dreams...You can find me as @TheMommyMess on Twitter and on Facebook.

  1. I'm happy when I manage to post once a week right now! You are so right that blogging should be an outlet and not a chore!

  2. Yes, it should be something you love to do and not something that makes you feel guilty :) What a great reminder!

  3. I love this.

I don't believe there is a blogger out there who actually does it all. We all have to figure out what we have time for- and know it's okay if life keeps us too busy to do what we would like to with blogging!

  4. Love this so much!:) Sometimes I don't blog for months and other times I am on a roll and blog a few times a week…I don't care and don't let it get to me. I love to write but only when I choose to do it. :)

  5. Such a great post! We all do what we can…and that is what is important!

  6. I love to blog, I try to keep mine up to date as much as possible and I try to note daily because I know I feel better when people note and read me. I don't want to be one of those friends that people complain about never noting on their site, which I have a few of those and it makes me feel bad but then they don't note back. Guess that's a peeve of mine.

But what a great reminder that you shouldn't feel guilty about blogging. Its for you!!

I love this post! It is so true that blogging should be for each of us individually. I have thought many times that I should close down my blog because I don't have enough to say or go too long between posts. Then I figure out that my blog IS for me, and I get recharged. Thanks for sharing this.

this is very true, lots of people like to write about their feelings, and blog for an escape. It has done me plenty of good.

Everyone thinks this job is so easy. For someone who sits at home and posts to a blog, I now have to have a calendar to keep myself organized!

My blog is still mine. I was struggling for awhile to find my "niche", but I realized that I do my best writing when I am myself. :)

  10. I love blogging & the wonderful community that I am part of, but keeping up is a lot of work.
Keeping up with everything can be a challenge that's for sure! You just need to make time when & where you can…. write when you feel like it and don't force it.

Beautifully said! Blogging/writing is an outlet for me to let go of things inside that I wanted to let go!

Thanks for visiting, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
