Writer’s Workshop: If I was a hoarder…

If I was a I was a hoarder, I would hoard books.

If I was a hoarder I might have books everywhere. Books for me, books for the kids, books for school, books on being a better me, books on raising better kids, books on teaching the kids, books to teach the kids, bible studies, textbooks, workbooks, I might even have books I’ve picked for hubs, who doesn’t even read

If I was hoarder.

If I was a book hoarder I might check out dozens of books from the library every week, even though I have a ton at home. I might have even recently posted about scoring on 23 used books from the most amazing used book sale ever.

If I was a hoarder, maybe it would be books?

I might have books for ever occasion, mood, and genre.

I might stash books in my kids rooms, in cute little baskets in the living room, or maybe I would have a designated area for shoes books in my closet?

If I was a hoarder I might save books in organized bins in my garage forever to sell on Ebay.

But, I’m now wondering if positive I’m not a hoarder because I’m taking this to the library today to donate.

LIE: Disclaimer: I did not pack this bag to prove to myself I’m not a book hoarder.
So if you were a hoarder what would you hoard? Ya know, hypothetically.

  4. abookformydaughter.com says:

Love that you are a book-hoarded pretending to be someone who would hoard books. Very creative, and very funny!

Loved reading it! Visiting from Mama Kat's

  5. Dominique @ Dominique's Desk says:

I too do have lots of books at home but I've been actively trying not to add to our collection but borrow from the library instead.

  6. Books. That is a good one. I have books everywhere myself. I was just looking at the books in Miss K's room the other day and thought to myself that I should take out all the books that are too young for her. But she still loves to read the "easy" ones. She is not a fan of chapter books, even though that is the level she is on.
    Maybe I'll donate some. Maybe.

  7. I am the opposite of you! I read a book and instantly get rid of it. I hate having books all over the place!

But I do love my kindle;)

  8. Motherhood Truth says:

This is exactly what I would, and probably do, hoard. If a book goes missing I get anxiety bad. I am always collecting and scoring a great deal…As a matter of fact 2 hrs after writing my post…I bought a book! LOL oops

  9. I used to hoard purses…badly! But once I had Will, I had to get over it. I no longer needed the purse that could only fit a wallet and my keys!
If I had room, I would totally hoard books!

  10. I find more people who can't stand to get rid of their books, I am one of them too! I just gave away like 5 books to the used book store…I thought it was a good start!

  11. The Woven Moments says:

QUICK! Get this woman a kindle!!

  12. Of course it's books. I couldn't think of anything more than that to write on the prompt. I would hoard books. Done.

  13. Rach (DonutsMama) says:

Oh good one! I'm totally a book hoarder too. I love books. I think I just like having them too because I have a ton that I haven't even read yet!

  14. wow when did you take picture of my house..hehe i'm a total book hoarder..shhh don't tell

  15. Fellow book hoarder here! If it weren't for moving every few years, which forces me to get rid of stuff, then we would be buried by books.

  16. What better to hoard than books! I'll admit that I'm a hopeless hoarder of books, and I love it! I've got them all over the place as well…to be caught without a book to read, would be a terrible thing. Fabulous post…I'm off to read!!

  17. I am like my Mandy, the post above me. I love books and you will always find them in my home. Everywhere. If you go to my blog, I just posted pictures of my many bookcases. I forgot about the ones under the bed and staircase. When my Mandy and I get together, the bookstore is where you will find us. Love Half Priced Books.

  18. So funny, I am a book hoarder too and I have yet to give any away. I love having full shelves of books, whether I've read them or not.

  19. Karen Greenberg says:

I'm with you on the books. I have piles of them everywhere and keep buying more. I WILL get to read them all some day!
